There are autos from Margao and Colva to Varca. You can then walk down to the beach. You can also use bicycle, motorcycle or taxi from Benaulim to reach the beach.
Among the places to visit are the impressive and whitewashed churches. Another good way to spend the time in Varca is to walk down the road from Benaulim, through coconut groves, farmland and paddy fields. There are few good restaurants and beach shanks which have tasty goan, Indian and international food.
Accommodation is expensive as compared to other parts of goa and those with a tight budget would have problems getting accommodation at reasonable price. There are very few beach shacks, while the hotels are either three-star ones or five-star ones. You can take a boat trip on the sal river or go for leisure cruises, bird watching, dolphin spotting and fishing trips.
